new york and back, a tiedeck tale

Wow, what a crazy week. It started last weekend with the arrival of 21 people from our old church, who stopped here before heading off on their mission trip. It was great to see everyone, it is a wonderful group of people whom we miss a whole lot. But they came in town Saturday in time for dinner, so we heated up the grill and went to work, it was a great evening, they then slept at the church and came over for breakfast the following morning. They were able to attend church with us on Sunday which was a real treat, it really was great seeing them, especially since so many of them are off to school this year. We then said good bye and sent them off for a week in the hot sun.

On Monday morning we headed up to New York, and when i say new work i mean the state not the city, just to clear that up. But it was a great trip up there it took 10.5 hours and we were there in time to eat dinner with my mom and Joe and Nathaniel and his girlfriend. Yummy Olive Garden, which if we want to eat that here means an hour drive, so it was nice. We then stopped by aunt monnies and uncle bern's cause the cousins were in town. And then off to bed. Tuesday we picked up my brother, and my cousin daryl and Sasha and headed to Friendly's for lunch, ( I love Friendly's and there is not a single one anywhere near us, so yippie) and then it was finally time to see Transformers, i had been waiting for to see it with daryl cause we use to play with them all the time growing up and it was awesome to see the movie with him. So after the movie we hung out for a bit, and then went to Target! Another thing we would have to drive an hour to get to, so yippie! And then it was off to dinner with mom and joe, which was yummy. Wednesday we got up early and headed into Albany and Jay finally got to see the Egg up close, we went to the state musuem and got him a sabretts hot dog, and then it was back to time with daryl and sasha, for thursday was a big day that needed a rehearsal for on wednesday.

So after the rehearsal we went met up with my pookie, aka Vicky, and it had been like almost two years since we have seen each other and her little boy is so big and cute, we had an awesome dinner at a diner (no diners here) and then went back to her house and waited forever for my mom to show up to meet Aidan (the cute little guy) and it was so nice to see vicky, i didn't want to let her go, as she can attest to since it was like 5 hugs before i could leave, but we will definitely see each other over thanksgiving.

And then thursday we went to breakfast with the bro and the girl and had a good time, and then we finally got a swin in at the hotel and then it was off to that special occassion, i don't know if it is public knowledge yet, so i am being sneaky, but you know what i am talking about, right? anyway, it was a beautiful day down by the river side, hot as all get out, but beautiful. And then some family hang out time and a great dinner, it was a wonderful afternoon and evening, and yippie for them...pictures will come soon...

And then friday we met up with my mom and joe for bagels, yummy, and got 2 dozen to bring back with us. And then said our goodbyes. 13 hours later we pulled onto our street, it took forever to get back, and it wasn't because we stopped, we don't stop if we do it is like 2.5 minutes, but it was a long and stressful ride home. And then we woke on Saturday thinking we would have those same 21 people back again on their return trip home, but were disappointed to discover that they decicided to just make the trip back to philly on saturday. It was very sad.

But the week itself was fabulous, the best week we have had in ny. Which made it sooooo hard to come back. I spent most on Sunday feeling pretty miserable, and lonely, and wanting people in town who know me, really know me, but alas, no such luck. So we are definitely feeling the distance more now than we had prior to this trip to ny. But it will get better...so that's what we have been up to...
